Multicultural competence
goes beyond
being aware of culture differences and respecting
diversity. It requires translating this knowledge into
action. Multiculturally competent real estate agents have
the capacity, knowledge, understanding, and skills to
interact effectively with culturally diverse clients as well
as their culturally diverse colleagues. In this class, we
will pursue the following objectives:
Establish a clear and shared
understanding of the concepts of diversity, culture, and
cultural competency;
Develop an awareness of the
impact of personal culture on the dynamics of human
interaction and how this comes into play during the practice
of real estate;
Develop practical applications
of the tools of cultural competency to the practice of real
estate; and
Develop strategies and tactics
to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
"Most
enjoyable! This type of session makes you think more about
others and possibly why the situations you have been in
turned out the way they did. Multicultural aspects are
playing a bigger and bigger role in our lives each day."
-Joseph Lee, Coldwell Banker Bain

was fascinating for me because it
gave me insights into the effects of
culture on the real estate industry
from very personal points of view.
Examples from colleagues were real
and presented challenges I had not
thought of before."
"The time
today went quickly! This class was a
good introductory class on what
multiculturalism is about, and was
relevant to all aspects of my life."
